Furious motorist slams 'inconsiderate' Sheffield drivers after blocking his wife's car

Will James was left infuriated this morning when he discovered his wife's Mini had been blocked in by a silver Audi.

His wife was unable to get her car out of the spot on Brightmore Drive and was forced to miss a day's work as a result.

Will said he has contacted the police about the issue but has been told there is little they can do as it is 'not an urgent matter'.

He said: "More bad parking in Sheffield again. The driver blocked my wife in and she will now miss a day of work because of this.

"I've contacted the police but unfortunately it's not an urgent matter so there's not much they can do about this.

"It happens all the time around here and these inconsiderate drivers need a wake up call."

Parking is a particular divisive issue in Sheffield with residents also complaining that cars are taking up spaces on their streets for hours at a time.

Unfortunately for these drivers, unless you live on a road which has residential parking permits, or is private, it's very difficult to stop this from happening.

There is also no legal entitlement for drivers to be able to park right outside their house; even though neighbours may give you a preference.

According to the Highway Code, these are the only laws of where you can't park

• On a pedestrian crossing, including the area marked by the zig-zag lines

• In marked taxi bays

• In a cycle lane

• On red lines

• In spaces reserved for Blue Badge holders, residents or motorbikes (unless entitled to do so)

• Near a school entrance

• Anywhere that would prevent access for Emergency Services

• At or near a bus/tram stop

• Opposite or within 10 metres of a junction

• Over a dropped kerb
