Garden with Med feel open for charity

A GARDEN in Doncaster with a Mediterranean feel will be opening its gates to the public for charity at the weekend.

Southways on Doncaster Road, Branton, has already won a prize in last year’s Doncaster in Bloom contest and this year opens to other garden enthusiasts for the first time as part of the National Gardens Scheme.

The chairman of Doncaster Council, Coun Tony Sockett, is due to perform the official opening ceremony at 12pm on Sunday, August 12 and visitors can enjoy Mediterranean-style food as well as admiring the planting schemes.

Those preferring more traditional fare can tuck into English cream teas and other refreshments at the Rooftops club on the opposite side of Doncaster Road.

A wide selection of plants grown by the owners will also be on sale to the public.
