Gorgeous Teddy's charity bid

A Sheffield dog - with a massive online following - is putting his fame to good use, raising funds for local animal rescue charities.

Teddy Burgess, a three year old English springer spaniel, began making a name for himself earlier in the year, when people on Facebook began contacting his owner, Tracy Burgess, to request she post more photos on her wall of the handsome dog.

Since then, Teddy has - with the help of Tracy - launched his own Facebook page, which he posts on around five times a day, with his daily updates followed by over 500 fans from across the globe.

“He has fans as far away as Australia and America,” said Tracy, aged 47, who adopted the rescue dog back in 2016 when he was just nine months old.

“I post photos of him, all narrated by Teddy in a thick Yorkshire accent, and regular blog updates, and people just adore him.”

When a few fans began asking Tracy about the possibility of a Teddy calendar, the mum-of-two, who lives in Littledale, decided to go for it, with all profit going to animal rescue charities. So far the calendar has already sold 300 copies, raising over £2,200 for a number of charities, including South Yorkshire English Springer Spaniel Rescue - the rescue the family adopted Teddy from - Friends of Fera, Castleford Hedgehod Rescue, Greyhound Rescue South Yorkshire, and Sidmouth Donkey Rescue.

“The support we’ve had has been phenomenal,” said Tracy.

“And I love to hear from people that Teddy has brightened up their day. If we can raise funds for important charities at the same time, I’m delighted.”
