Head teacher has retired

CARIBBEAN-style capers celebrated the retirement of a Sheffield headteacher after 22 years at her school.

Janet Timmins was greeted with a surprise party by staff and pupils to mark her final week at Brantwood School in Nether Edge. Janet arrived at Brantwood in 1985 as an English teacher, but progressed to being senior tutor, deputy head and then acting head.

“The plan was to hold a surprise Caribbean party - although it isn’t easy to keep a secret in a school packed full of hyper-excited children!” said a school spokesman.

Janet said it wasn’t easy to leave after so long. - “I will miss the children.”
