Hoggart tells his Tigers to forget brawl

SHEFFIELD co-promoter David Hoggart says his team must concentrate all their energies on the league points at Stoke tonight.

Thursday’s clash between the clubs at Owlerton was marred by an brawl after a controversial incident between Tigers’ Paul Cooper and visiting rider Claus Vissing.

He said: “I spoke with Paul immediately after Thursday’s meeting and cautioned him against any further incidents. Our focus has to be on winning races and taking the aggregate point even if we can’t win on the night.”

Vissing was fined the maximum 300 for the actions of his mechanic, as well as 100 for inciting the crowd - although, ironically, Cooper had been the rider excluded by referee Graham Reeve when the two came together on the third bend of Heat 13.

Hoggart said: “The referee dealt with things in the manner in which he saw fit. The video footage, which the referee didn’t see, showed a somewhat different picture.”
