Learning deal for city firm

E-LEARNING experts from Sheffield have teamed up with one of the leading educational publishers to make online learning materials available to students and teachers around the world.

Learning Light, the Sheffield Technology Parks-based national centre of excellence and advice for learning technologies has signed a partnership agreement with Cambridge University Press.

Under the deal a consortium of companies represented by Learning Light will be able to distribute their online learning packages using Cambridge University Press’s Global Grid for Learning. The Grid is a subscription-based internet service which supplies reliable and copyright-cleared educational content to schools and teachers across the world.

Learning Light’s chief executive, Mark Pittaway, said: "Cambridge University Press' Global Grid for Learning provides an exciting and valuable opportunity to allow teachers and students, from all over the world, access that they might not otherwise have to the wealth of learning materials that have been developed by the UK LearnOnline consortium.

“This can only be beneficial for the world's teachers, students, the Global Grid for Learning and, of course, UK LearnOnline."
