Legendary Britpop band to headline huge summer music festival at Doncaster park
One of the biggest bands from the 90s Britpop scene are to headline a huge summer music festival at a Doncaster park.
Liverpool indie rockers Cast will top the bill at the inaugural Summerfest which will be staged in Sandall Park in August.
The band scored ten top 20 hits and three top ten albums at the height of their fame including classic songs such as Walkaway, Flying, Guiding Star and Live The Dream.
The rock and acoustic festival will see music on two stages on August 6 with the festivities going on for an incredible 14 hours.
A spokesman for organisers Live Lounge UK said: "Cast will bring a great summer feel top this year's festival. It will be a must see show."
The band were formed by John Power after the break-up of his previous band, legendary Merseyside combo The La's, best known for their worldwide smash There She Goes.
Former in 1992, they were labelled "The Who of the 90s" and achieved global success before breaking up in 2001 and then reforming in 2010. Since then, they have played a number of live concerts across the UK featuring some of their best known hits from albums such as All Change and Mother Nature Calls as well as new LP Troubled Times.
The band will headline the Mallard Main Stage while a host of bands have been lined-up to take to the second, Racecourse Stage.
Topping the bill will be The Tom Gee Band while others putting in an appearance are The Warning, Twister, Euphoria Audio, Scarlet, Charlotte Taylor, Deadset Dream, The Blend, Tourist Attractions, Autumn In Eden, Biophony and Retroject.
The festival will be opened by Doncaster war hero Ben Parkinson at 10am with the music running through until midnight.
