A major road in Sheffield remains closed again today because of severe flooding.

The Stocksbridge bypass is closed between the A6102 for Stocksbridge and the Flouch roundabout on the A628.

A Highways England spokesman said the road is not expected to re-open until mid or late morning.

He said: "Highways England contractors have been working overnight to clear significant amounts of flood water in order to reduce levels and currently it is estimated this closure will remain until mid or late morning before it is safe to re-open.

"Road users should allow some extra time for journeys."
