MEP helps Rotherham project raise cash for school in Pakistan

A Rotherham project which supports Asian women has teamed up with Euro MP Linda McAvan to raise cash for a girls’ school in Pakistan.

Tassibee, which was set up in 1993 to support isolated and socially excluded Asian women in Rotherham, is supporting a school with 100 girls after local woman, Khalida Luqman, visited the school based in Pindi and found a half finished building with no facilities.

Ms McAvan is hosting a fundraising dinner next year and is promoting the Tassibee project in her Christmas cards sent to constituents.

The MEP said: “I am happy to be able to support a project that is so embedded within the local community.”
