Fond memories of my time at grammar school

I, TOO, attended City Grammar School (1940-45) and recall the school song.

The girls’ entrance was in Orchard Street, opposite the Grant Hotel that was, and woebetide us if we did not wear our hats!

My brothers, Trevor and Philip, attended the Junior Technical School, as I remember it being called, not Central.

A few weeks before building work began, I was privileged to visit and a group of us sang the school song in the hall. A moving experience. I still have my autograph album with the Wall of Friendship and signatures of friends and teachers.

I have twice been in the new square since it was finished and the memories seem so new.
