Let's not make a scapegoat of technology

ALTHOUGH it is true that the grammatical and literary skills of many of today's children leave a lot to be desired this is not the case for all children, and certainly this is not an excuse to scapegoat technology.

To say that a computer cannot aid learning is ignorant. There is more to a computer than the internet, which itself is an excellent tool for learning.

Although I enjoy reading, I would much prefer reading a web page or a guide written by peers than trawling tediously through a text-book when learning, for example, a programming language.

Computers are an important part of education because they allow creativity on so many levels, and for so many levels of skill. From graphic design to website design, building programs to building knowledge, computers allow expression and explorative urges to take hold.

Classroom education is important but it needn't be the entire spectrum of education. Computers are the way forward for education, children spend much of their spare time using computers . Let's not scapegoat technology because certain people are reliant upon it, computers are not a replacement for knowledge, they are useless without it.
