More evidence of woman posing as a stranded visitor to city

Referring to the letter from Sandra Jones (July 9). My wife and I were approached by a young woman who had a little girl about seven-years-old with her. It was October last year. She said her purse with money and credit cards and return tickets to Derby had been stolen at Meadowhall.

She said the police could not help her.

We gave her 10 and our name and address. She promised to send us a cheque within a few days. She gave me a paper with her name and address, home and mobile phone numbers. I tried phoning when no cheque arrived, but got no satisfaction. I still have the paper with the address and phone numbers.

Sandra Jones was conned out of her money by a well dressed young lady asking for money to return home to Derby.

My son was also accosted in the Lyceum area and told the same story, he refused to believe her and questioned how she had got back to the city centre from Meadowhall if she had no money.
