Three sets of temporary lights are delaying traffic

THIS may sound like another complaining motorist but surely the council needs to be addressed on the situation regarding the route from Stocksbridge to Hillsborough.

We already have a diversion and a set of temporary lights as a result of the flooding, this I agree cannot be helped. What I can’t understand is what looks to be routine gas pipe replacement near the Wharncliffe Arms on the A6102 and all the way along Manchester Road near the Deepcar Health Centre.

The council must have given the go ahead for these additional works so if they are only routine and not emergency why couldn’t they have waited until the flood repairs have been carried out?

As a commuter between Stocksbridge and Penistone Road it seems ridiculous that a 20 minute journey should take 45 minutes due to the fact that I have a large diversion and three sets of temporary lights to contend with.
