Peace in Europe

I am sure that the tiresome and inaccurate exchanges about which organisation has secured the peace in Europe, NATO or the EU, will carry on regardless, but I feel compelled to note a few things.
EUEU
EU

n There has been no territorial claim against another EU country since 1945. No EU country has threatened the borders of another EU country. Such have been the causes of wars in Europe.

n If that were to happen it is not part of the role of NATO to stop it. Nor has it been called upon to do so. NATO is facing outwards towards Russia. Those who say NATO has kept the peace in the EU ignore history and constitution.

n The EU has bound together all its countries voluntarily into a community that offers trade, cooperation and human rights instead of dispute and aggression. In that respect, it has worked. It is the EU that has kept the peace.
