The 22nd annual Bishop’s Walk, organised by St Wilfrid’s Centre, went ahead on Monday, October 12, to help secure vital funds which will allow the centre to continue its work supporting hundreds of people in need in the city.
Due to the current coronavirus restrictions, the event was downscaled this year and saw just six socially-distanced walkers make their way from the Holy Spirit Church, in Dronfield, to St Marie’s Cathedral, in Sheffield city centre.

Ms Moore said: “The day was excellent and everyone really enjoyed the walk and going through the different parishes. The bishop joined us at the start and then again at Mother of God walking with us past the centre and then to the cathedral.
"Everyone was really friendly and supportive on route and we hope, with carrying our banner and torches all the way, we did a lot to raise the profile of the centre and make people more aware of the valuable work we do.
"As well as the generosity of the catholic parishes, a special mention could be made for St James Norton Anglican church where we were met with a round of applause and coffee and biscuits, as well as a torch that they had filled with donations that they presented to us."

It reopened on August 3, but only a limited number of people are currently able to access the support at any one time.
About £2,000 has been raised so far – £600 of which came from St Wilfrid's Primary School – with some individual parishes yet to send in their donations.
