They asked friends and family to sponsor them, and have raised more than £500 so far and delivered Easter eggs, toiletries and other bits to Baby Basics Sheffield on Monday.

Lauren, 27, said: “Alice and I were having a chat about her being really lucky that she has all these toys and some other little girls and boys don’t have any. We were saying that she could give some of her old ones away.

"She said ‘Yes I’d like to give the other little girls and boys my old toys.

"And I told her it was Easter and she was going to be really lucky because we buy her lots of Easter eggs. She said: ”I know why don’t we buy Easter eggs for all the little boys and girls who don’t have any too.

"She is a little sweetheart.”

“So I made some bracelets and we went online and she chose what charms she wanted on the bracelets – she chose little bee ones. We made all these bracelets and it kind of went a bit crazy.

"To be honest I didn’t think we would raise that much money.”

“I’ll definitely be doing something like this again with Alice if she wants to,” said Lauren. “She is such a kind-natured girl.”

Baby Basics is a volunteer-led project aiming to support new mothers and families who are struggling to meet the financial and practical burden of looking after a new baby.
