The fast-food chain opened its Archer Road, Darnall Road, Farm Road, Hillsborough and Meadowhall Retail Park restaurants at 11am this morning, revealing that new measures are in place to help keep employees and customers safe.
Hundreds of people eager to get their hands on the fast-food flocked to the restaurants, allegedly causing a ‘major’ backlog of traffic along Penistone Road as they waited to join takeaway lines outside the Hillsborough store.

It is over two months since McDonald's decided to completely shut all of its UK restaurants as the coronavirus outbreak worsened.
In May, the chain announced that it would be reopening 15 restaurants for delivery only.
A reduced menu is in operation at the newly reopened drive-thrus with reduced opening hours from 11am until 10pm.

Perspex screens have also been fitted at drive-thru windows and employees will be wearing protective equipment and adhering to social distancing guidelines in the kitchens and service areas.
To manage the anticipated demand, McDonald's said it will be releasing the locations of the reopening restaurants on the morning of each day.
Announcing the changes in Sheffield today, a spokesperson warned that drive-thrus could be closed if they cause disruption to other road users.
