McDonald’s clarifies rules on Sheffield workers smoking and wearing face masks after complaint

The firm, which has restaurants and drive-thrus across South Yorkshire, clarified the policy after a concerned customer in Sheffield spotted an employee while holding a face mask in their hand before entering one of the venues.
The customer contacted the McDonald’s HQ to file a complaint last weekend.

Hide AdIn a statement, issued in response, McDonald’s said: “Hygiene and cleanliness is of the utmost importance to us, and our restaurant teams are vigilant in following the additional guidance that has been implemented since we decided to safely re-open.
“This includes more frequent hand washing and the use of face masks.
“We’d like to reassure the customer in question that our staff members followed these procedures upon re-entering the restaurant and put on new face masks.”
