Petition plea was ignored

Between 2013 and 2019, Sheffield City Council replaced the city’s existing traditional sodium street lights with more environmentally-friendly LED to improve carbon emission levels.

In 2017, after the sexual assault of a young woman in Weston Park a petition to improve park lighting was signed by over 800 people but was unsuccessful.

In 2019 the city council trialled dimming street lights at night.

The lower level lighting was implemented across the city from October 2020.
