Survey reveals Sheffield's favourite tea - and the answer might surprise you

Sheffield has been named as the green tea capital of the UK – with city drinkers swigging four cups a day, ahead of traditional breakfast tea.

The study, carried out by SaveOnEnergy.com to mark International Tea Day, said that more people in Sheffield prefer green tea than to anywhere else in the UK.

But while Sheffielders knock back four cuppas a day on average, the city lags behind others in terms of tea consumption.

Edinburgh, Leeds, Birmingham and Cardiff also enjoy at least six brews a day -and across the UK, English Breakfast tea with milk is easily the most popular choice – whatever the time of day.

Derry and Derby are the least tea friendly places across the country, with people there only knocking back one cuppa a day on average.
