Teen brain tumour survivor treated in Sheffield to present Premier League trophy to Manchester City

Jake Tindale of Eckington, Derbyshire, made headlines in January this year after making a remarkable recovery from a low-grade brain tumour as big as a fingernail in a mere three weeks over Christmas last year.

The 15-year-old massive City supporter will be making the trip to Manchester with his father, Mark Tindale, who is also a City fan, later today to prepare ahead of the silverware presentation to the club captain Fernandinho and forward Sergio Aguero after the match against Everton.

According to his step father Chris Woolhouse, Jake received the news directly from the manager himself, Pep Guardiola.

In a video that was sent to Jake and his family last week, Pep said: "Hi Jakey, I'm Pep. I know you did the surgery for your lovely brain and that was good and you feel good.

"Manchester City have decided that you, Jakey, will present at the Everton game when you will be allowed in with thousands of other people in the stadium.

"Manchester City have decided you will be the guy to present the trophy to Fernandinho before he lifts the trophy to the sky.

"Looking forward to seeing you. There's no better person here in this stadium to give the title to Fernandinho to lift it to the sky. Okay, see you soon."

Jake was first diagnosed on December 8, went for the operation on December 23 and returned home on Christmas Day before being officially discharged on Boxing Day.

Chris said Jake has been doing brilliantly since the surgery and has fully returned to school.

And now Chris, Jake and his mum, Katie will embark on a 5K fun run a day challenge in June to raise money for brain tumour research and Sheffield Children's Hospital.

It is reported that Jake is a designated trophy bearer alongside Jon Bell, the son of legendary City midfielder Colin Bell, who died in January aged 74.

Pep Guardiola has dedicated City’s latest title to the former England international, who won all three domestic competitions and the Cup-Winners’ Cup while at Maine Road.

This will be City’s third crown in four seasons.
