Three people were taken to hospital after crash near major Sheffield tram route, Yorkshire Ambulance Service confirms

Three people were taken to hospital following a serious crash close to a major tram route in the city.

Two ambulances, crews from Parkway, Birley Moor and Lowedges fire stations and police were dispatched to the scene after a collision between two cars at the junction of White Lane and Ridgeway Road in Gleadless Townend.

The incident happened on Boxing Day at 2.11pm but the Yorkshire Ambulance Service only released details yesterday. In a statement, the service said: “Two ambulances were dispatched to the scene and three patients were conveyed to Northern General Hospital.”

No details have been released yet about the condition of the patients and we have asked for more details. The fire service and police were also contacted but we have not received replies as yet.

Sheffield Supertram tweeted on the day that the incident caused considerable disruption to the tram network before the incident was cleared at about 4pm. Councillor Shaffaq Mohammed sent in a video from the scene to The Star and said the fire service, ambulance and police were in attendance.
