Sharing his footage with The Star, the student said: “I was sitting in my room when I heard a loud revving followed by a scraping sound.

“I initially thought a motorcyclist had fallen off their bike due to the scrapping sound; however, it was a car that had somehow gotten stuck on the tram lines.”

His video shows passing motorists slowing down to watch the driver attempting to free his car from the gravel, which he eventually managed to do.

He was then filmed driving off.
