Policeman attacked in car by thug

A THUG smashed a police car window and attacked an officer who was on duty near Doncaster Royal Infirmary.

The policeman was attending an incident on Armthorpe Road, when a man in a car park, near to Doncaster Royal Infirmary ran at the marked patrol car, jumped on to the bonnet and smashed the windscreen.

He then turned to the uniformed police officer, who is in his mid-30s, and assaulted him.

The officer suffered a cut to his eye and bruising and went to the DRI for treatment.

Police today appealed for information about the incident at around 5.40pm on Wednesday August 29.

One man has been arrested and is currently on bail for violence offences and criminal damage

Police described the suspect as white, aged 35, 5ft 9ins tall and of a stocky build. He was wearing a green t-shirt and blue jeans.
