A proposal to consult the public on the plans is set to be presented to Barnsley Council at its cabinet meeting on April 29.

The draft Hoyland Masterplan Framework includes plans to transform the area over the next few years, providing housing, employment sites and the relocation of Rockingham Sports facility to land at Parkside.

Plans will be presented to the council on April 29, and permission will be sought from councillors to open the plans to public consultation.

The consultation process, to be held during May 2020, will allow residents to help in the shaping and phasing of the development.

A report to cabinet members from council officers says it is important the consultation goes ahead now, at an early stage in the development, to ensure this is done comprehensively and with involvement of the community and its stakeholders.

The report includes revised plans for the consultation due to the current situation relating to Covid-19, to ensure people are not excluded and still have the opportunity to shape the Masterplan Framework.

This will include a number of ways to access information online and for residents to give their views.

Subject to cabinet approval, the proposal is for the consultation to last for a period of six weeks and will be publicised over the coming weeks.
