Travel delays expected amid huge security operation for Question Time Leaders Special in Sheffield

There is a huge police presence around the University of Sheffield’s Octagon Centre, on Clarkson Street, where the televised debate is due to take place this evening, and fences have been erected.
Travel South Yorkshire tweeted: “Please be aware, there may be delays around the University of Sheffield this evening, as the Octagon is hosting Question Time Live Leaders' Special. Please leave extra time for travel.”

Hide AdSouth Yorkshire Police declined to say how many officers were involved in the security operation or how much it was expected to cost.
But Superintendent Paul McCurry, silver commander for the Question Time event, said: "As with all events of this kind, we are working closely with our partners and have committed the necessary resources to ensure a safe environment for everybody involved in the broadcast and minimise any impact on our local communities."
Boris Johnson, Jeremy Corbyn, Jo Swinson and Nicola Sturgeon are due to take part in the debate tonight.
The live programme, hosted by Fiona Bruce, will air on BBC One from 7pm to 9pm.
