Sheffield residents '˜seriously worried' after shooting, warns MP
Hillsborough and Brightside MP Harry Harpham said he would be writing to the Government after a 25-year-old man was shot on Penistone Road, Hillsborough, at about 2pm on Wednesday.
Police said the incident, which happened at the junction of Leppings Lane and Herries Road, is believed to be a ‘targeted attack’ and posed no wider danger to the public.

In the wake of the shooting, Mr Harpham said he would be writing to Home Secretary Theresa May to raise ‘serious concerns’ about cuts to police funding.
He said: “People are seriously worried about increasing violent crime such as this.
“While it seems, from what police have said, there is no risk to the wider public, it is important that anyone with information comes forward. Increasingly we are seeing a lack of police on the streets due to Government cuts and that does raise serious concerns.

Police said the victim was taken to hospital with a gunshot would to his leg.
His condition is not thought to be life-threatening.
Detective Chief Inspector Steve Whittaker said: “We believe this to be a targeted attack on a particular individual.
“I would like to reassure residents that we believe there is not a wider danger to the public following this incident, and we will be providing an increased police presence in the area.”
