Sheffield Tigers can roar back after losses

The Tigers have suffered their first setbacks of the campaign, losing away to Ipswich and Plymouth in their last two outings after going unbeaten in their first five competitive fixtures.

But Stead insists there is no reason to panic and has called on them to get their first Premier League points on the board against the Panthers.

They have already won at the East of England Showground this season, putting in their performance of the campaign in the League Cup a month ago. Stead said: “It’s going to be another big test for us at Peterborough on Sunday, but we are desperate to get our first win in the Premier League.

“Plymouth was obviously disappointing, but I think the pleasing point was that we all finished a lot better than we started.

“Plymouth is always going to be a tough one for Sheffield because a lot of us are big track riders and it’s the complete opposite to our home track.

“Speaking for me personally, it’s been over a year since I’ve seen a track of that sort of size, so it took me a little bit longer than it should have to start firing.

“The team finished strongly, and although we were disappointed not to come away with anything the effort over the second half of the meeting was pleasing and definitely something we can build on.

“We’ll head into Peterborough looking to get back to winning ways, and on a bigger track where we’ve already won this season we can have no excuses.

“It will be tough, and to win there last month was a brilliant effort by everyone, but we know we can do it and we’ll be looking to come away from there with another good result.”
