It was feared the Scotland international would miss the final five matches of the 2017/18 season after being forced off in the first half of Saturday’s defeat to Fulham. Bannan has already been ruled out of tomorrow’s clash at Queens Park Rangers.

But the 28-year-old hopes to make a speedy recovery from the problem.

He posted on Twitter: “Scan results goo. Happy man, get ready for the weekend now.”

Speaking to the press corps this morning before his scan results, manager Jos Luhukay said: “We hope that Barry can play in the next games but tomorrow is too early for him.

“In the worst case, he will be out until the end of the season but we will have more information today.

“It is very disappointing; and a similar situation with Sam Hutchinson who played two times and is now out for the season.

“We hope Barry will play again this season, they are both players with quality and important players so it is a loss for us.”
