SHU Fest extravaganza

The annual SHU Fest is underway this week - celebrating music, dance, the arts, food and language.

Now in its sixth year, SHU Fest will showcase the talent and diversity of its students and staff with a programme of over 40 events - including Thai dancing, a Brazillian carnival, a Portugese language class, Salsa dancing lessons, a stand-up comedy show by the Improv and Comedy Society and baking demonstrations.

The University has even been transformed into the island of Sri Lanka for part of the celebrations, which will see staff and students learning to write their name in Sinhalese, taste traditional home cooking and enjoy Baila music and games.

One of the organisers, and Sheffield Hallam’s international experience officer, Yat Fai Tang, said: “Sheffield Hallam University has an amazing range of student talent from around the world. SHU Fest is a fantastic opportunity for students to get involved in something extra alongside their studies, showcase their cultural traditions from home and abroad, and gain additional experience to make their CV’s stand out.

The festival will finish this Sunday. Visit www.shu.ac.uk/shufest for details.
