Sisters great at athletics

SUPER sisters snatched a double triumph at the Sheffield City Athletics Championships - both being crowned champions in two events each.

Lauren and Amy Potter, both pupils at Sheffield High School, built upon successes earlier in the season.

Lauren, aged 14, won the 200 and 800 metres events, while Amy, 13, won her year group’s 800 and 1500 metre races.

Both girls had tasted victory in earlier events, the South Yorkshire championships and a national event for private girls’ schools.

Other Sheffield High girls who were also double champions were Jill Lee- Liggett, 12, in the high jump and long jump, and Victoria Stasi in the Year 7 100 metres and relay.

The Year 7 relay team – Victoria Stasi, Pippa Kay, Ameka Uchegbu and Lucy Jones - were also title winners.
