Steve living the dream in F3

Doncaster entrepreneur Steve Patania is aiming for success on the race track after buying a Formula 3 car which used to be raced by Belgian-born Formula 1 test driver and former German F3 champion Bas Leinders.

Steve, who was managing director of engineering firm Autocomponents before he sold the business 18 months ago and went into property development, has stepped up to the Club F3 Championship after racing in Formula 4 for ten years.

After winning races in Formula 4, Steve has been getting used to the more powerful F3 single seaters and has achieved some midfield finishes.

However, Steve, who races in the colours of Doncaster based Patley Homes, of which he is a co-director, is hoping to move further up the grid with his new car.

“Having competed in Formula 4 for over ten years and finally winning races, progression to F3 seemed a natural step for me.

“It has been my dream for the past three or four years, the only thing holding me back being the racing budget.

“I have invested 28,000 in a new car and expect running costs of 30,000 for the full season next year.

“But this is my dream and I am going to live it to the full, confident that I can do well at this level,” said Steve.

Steve Patania’s next appearance on the race track will be at Snetterton in Norfolk next weekend, October 13-14.
