Streetsmart Sue

SUE Beardon, pictured, wants us to think of others less fortunate than ourselves when we go out for a good meal.

She's starting up the Sheffield operation of Streetsmart, a national organisation that puts 1 on restaurant bills for local charities.

Sue, from Nether Edge, Sheffield, is contacting city restaurants in the next few weeks to get them to take part in November and December.

She says: "Just 20 restaurants participating could raise at least 15,000 and probably a lot more." She will never see the money. At the end of the two month period restaurants tot up the cash and send a cheque to headquarters but it will be Sheffield which will decide where it goes.

Restaurants will get information packs telling them how to reprogramme their tills. Cards will be on the table telling diners they can take part, offer more or decline.

Sue says; "A pound is not too much to ask when we have got so much and others have got so little."
