Struggle for Derbyshire

DERBYSHIRE face a battle to avoid defeat in the LV County Championship Division Two match against Gloucestershire after ending a rain-shortened third day at Bristol on 91-2, still 51 runs in arrears.

Aussie Michael Dighton led Derbyshire's resistance with nine fours in his 42 and the visitors will hope that first-innings centurion Travis Birt, who is unbeaten on 37, can steer them towards safety on the final day.

Grant Hodnett had earlier been Gloucestershire's last man out for 168 as the home side, 403-7 overnight, were dismissed for 454 having added 51 runs to their overnight 403-7.
