Tragedy as man dies in house fire in South Yorkshire

An investigation is to be carried out after a man died in a house fire in Doncaster in the early hours of this morning.

The man, aged in his 60s, died in a blaze on Redbourne Road, Bentley, at around 12.30am.

When firefighters arrived at the property it was engulfed in flames.

They spent around seven hours at the house.

The cause of the blaze is not yet known.

In a statement, South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue said: “A man in his 60s has been found dead following a serious house fire in Doncaster.

“Four fire crews attended the incident on Redbourne Road, Bentley at around 00.30am on Monday.

“The house was well alight when firefighters arrived on the scene.

“Crews left the incident at around 7.30am.

“An investigation into the cause of the fire will take place on Monday.
