Several Supertram services have been suspended since Sunday after high water levels caused by Storm Dennis made the bridge over the River Don impassable.

There is currently no service to Meadowhall Interchange and Yellow route services are operating to and from Tinsley only. The tram train, which connects Sheffield and Rotherham, remains suspended.

Stagecoach say the restrictions on these routes will be in place ‘until further notice’, and apologised for the inconvenience.

In the meantime, tram tickets are valid on buses and trains between Meadowhall and Rotherham.

On Wednesday a dive team inspected the tram bridge over the Don to remove debris and to ensure no damage had been caused to the underwater structure.

It was hoped normal service would resume following that inspection, but suspensions remain in place.
