TV presenters visit Rotherham school to drum up support for 100-mile three-legged challenge

BBC Look North presenter Harry Gration and weatherman Paul Hudson have agreed to take part in a three-legged challenge for Sport Relief.

To drum up support and to practice their technique they visited St Ann’s Junior and Infant School, Rotherham, to tell the children of their plan to visit South, West and North Yorkshire.

Harry said: “This was the first chance to practice our technique in a competitive environment and it looks like we’ve got a lot of work to do before our challenge begins.

“But Paul and I are nothing if not committed and we’re confident we’ll be in tip top shape to raise money for this great cause. Look out for us hobbling up a road near you soon.”

They will take the first steps of their trek together in Rotherham on Thursday, March 10 - and after walking for nine days they hope to reach the finish line in York on Friday, March 18.

The pair plan to visit Rotherham, Barnsley, Silkstone, Cawthorne, Greasbrough, Wentworth, Hoyland and Worsbrough on their travels.

Sport Relief is a fundraising initiative which brings together the worlds of sport and entertainment to raise money to help vulnerable people in the UK and the world’s poorest countries.

It takes place every two years, and this year runs from Friday, March 18 to Sunday, March 20.

A number of events are planned in Sheffield, which is one of six cities chosen to host the inaugural Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Flagship Games.
