Two die in smash
A SOUTHBOUND stretch of the M1, near Alfreton, was closed this morning after a horror accident which claimed the lives of two motorcyclists.
Derbyshire Police closed the stretch between junctions 27 and 28 after an accident involving a motorbike carrying a man and a woman at 10.30pm last night.
It is believed their bike was the only vehicle involved in the accident, but the victims, from Nottinghamshire, were then hit by a number of other vehicles.
The road was expected to remain closed until the afternoon.
