At around 11.50am on Tuesday 29 March, it was reported that a silver Citroen Picasso travelling toward Sheffield at Midhope collided with a black Ford Hearse travelling in the opposite direction toward Holmfirth.

A black Golf VW also travelling toward Sheffield was then also in collision with the rear of the Citroen.

A spokesman for South Yorkshire Police said: “Two passengers in the Citroen, both from the Worksop area, suffered serious injuries and were taken to hospital where they remain in a serious but stable condition.

“Were you in the area at the time? Did you see the collision or the manner in which any of the vehicles were being driver prior to the collision? Anyone with information is asked to contact 101 quoting incident 556 of March 29 2016.”

The road was closed until mid-afternoon.
