Wilder's first competitive match in charge sees the Blades travel to League One newcomers Bolton Wanderers, who dropped down from the Championship last year, and with a number of new faces in the squad, there are many taking an interest in what United will have to offer.

The club has been in this position before, with new managers coming in amid an air of expectancy and positivity only to suffer early disappointment. And while Wilder admits Saturday's game 'won't make or break' the season, the new man in charge is keen to get off to a flier.

"It's been building up for a couple of weeks really," he said. "The players want to play in competitive games when there is something on it so everybody's been looking forward to the Bolton game.

"We've got a lot of preparation to do this week, it's a really important week for us. Saturday doesn't make or break our season but we certainly want to get out of the traps and gets off to a good start. We'll be backed by thousands of our supporters going over the Pennines. It's a new start, it's a first impression for myself and the team and we want to make sure it's a positive one."
