Joe Burkinshaw, aged 46, Peter Burgin, 49 and 42-year-olds Russell Kirkby and Paul Oldfield, have joined forces with three other parking attendants and four friends to cycle 93 miles from Sheffield Town Hall to Scarborough.

Joe said: “We thought it would make sense to try and raise some money for a worthy local cause.”

The hospice in Dinnington is due to open next year.

It will provide beds for terminally ill youngsters and their families and costs 1.8 million a year to run.
