Heavy rain weather warning issued for Yorkshire

The Met Office say the yellow ‘be aware’ warning will come into force at 6pm on Monday and last until noon on Tuesday.
They say homes and businesses could be flooded, causing damage to some buildings and delays or cancellations to train and bus services.

Hide AdSpray and flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures and some communities may be cut off.
They also warn of possible power cuts and loss of other services to some homes and businesses.
A spokesperson said: “Rain, heavy at times, will arrive from the west later on Monday and persist until Tuesday late morning or early afternoon.
“20 to 40 mm rain is likely to fall widely, with a chance of 50 to 70 mm in a few places over higher ground.
“Given saturated ground and high river levels, this may be enough for some flooding and disruption.”
