When the force was with Steve

A squad of Star Wars Stormtroopers invaded his stage.

“Seeing as I was in mid-guitar break I pointed my guitar at them and used it to make machine gun noises,” he laughs.

“They ordered me at gunpoint to play like my life depended on it. Which I did! They remained on stage for a couple of numbers but didn't manage to put us off as we never dropped a beat.”

Steve and his band were performing their rocking blues at the Newcastle Arms in Retford when the gig was invaded.

“These guys are part of a nationwide group of volunteers called UK Garrison and do all the official appearances on behalf of George Lucas,” says Steve, from Parson Cross.

“They were supposed to go on stage for the headline act but when we started playing they made their appearance early. I knew nothing of what was about to happen.”
