Witness plea after Intake taxi incident

WITNESSES who saw a confrontation between a Doncaster taxi driver and a pedestrian are being asked to come forward.

Police are appealing for information about the incident between two men in Sandringham Road, Intake, where a group of people were walking towards the shops near the junction with Tudor Road at the traffic lights when a taxi drove past.

The wing mirror of the taxi was damaged and the driver stopped his vehicle to discuss the matter - which sparked a verbal argument.

But police say the argument turned physical and the taxi driver sustained a cut to the top of his eyebrow.

The taxi driver was Asian, 6ft 1in tall and driving a blue Mercedes people carrier.

A male from the group was described as white, 5ft 8ins tall, of a stocky build. He was wearing a white vest, a pink baseball cap and jeans. Officers have spoken to both parties but want to hear from independent witnesses.

Anyone with information about the incident, which happened on Sunday August 5 at 3.30pm, call PC Steve Cartlidge on 01302 385211 or Crimestoppers 0800 555111.
