A total of 51 family houses will be built as part of Sheffield City Council’s £7.5m scheme to provide 1,000 extra council homes by 2019-20. The authority has also this year bought 23 newly built houses at Fox Hill and 122 other council homes across the city.

Cabinet member for housing at Sheffield Council, Coun Jayne Dunn, said: “House building is on the up in Sheffield and it’s great to see work starting on more new build council homes. They’ll be good for the area and will make good homes. We’re increasing council housing at the same time as maintaining what we’ve got.”
