Wriggling insurer pays up at last

PEOPLE who remember to apply for an insurance policy refund under a claim-free five-year deal should be instantly rewarded - not have to battle a wriggling insurance company.

Hilary Robinson carefully filed her certificate after buying cover for a television she purchased at Courts on Chesterfield Road, Woodseats.

Half a decade later she wrote to Regency Warranties requesting her 140. But there was a problem, she had not sent in her registration document.

Hilary, of Greenhill Road, Woodseats, said: "At the time Courts assured us they had sorted everything out! Regency eventually agreed to pay just 70 as a goodwill gesture. I feel that type of trading is very unfair."

Now Hilary will get her money - a further 70 .

A spokesperson from Homeserve, which acquired Regency in 2002, said: "We are disappointed to hear Mrs Robinson felt they were misled by Regency. As a gesture of goodwillwe agree to repay the full amount to the customer."

Cashback insurance deals had since been dropped she added.
