You can do what you like
Where is this?, you may ask, Rustlings Road is the answer! But, and there’s always a but, the trees, although stunningly beautiful, and part of the picturesque view over Endcliffe Park, were actually on the land of the Hallamshire Tennis Club!
Outraged, I tweeted them, only to be told that the roots were causing damage to their courts, and the leaves were blocking their gutters! Yes! You read that correctly.

Hide AdStill outraged I got in touch with the ‘Save Sheffield Trees’ group on Facebook. To my angered amusement, they said that as the trees were on the club’s land, they were totally in their rights to chop them down. Isn’t that a bit contradictory after their protests?
So people of Sheffield, it seems if you own a tree, you can do what you like to it. If it’s causing damage, chop it down. With all the damage to the pavements on Rustlings Road, it’s goodbye trees and it seems the council are in their rights!
