ELSECAR and Hallam advanced to the semi-finals of the Yorkshire Council Championship Play-offs yesterday with convincing wins over Pontefract League opponents.

Elsecar bowled out Ackworth for 135, wickets well-shared, and replied with 137-1, Matt Danks unbeaten on 71.

Jim Tasker’s magnificent 140 inspired Hallam to a winning total against Streethouse. Hallam made 270 and Streethouse were dismissed for 165, Steve Howe 3-38.

In the Division One Play-offs, Darfield, runaway leaders in the South Yorkshire League, were winners over second-placed Houghton Main, who made 254-8, Nick Bisby hitting 66. Darfield answered with 255-5, Simon Potter 96.
