Extra Eagles shares on sale

SHEFFIELD Eagles are looking for an injection of cash by offering more shares for sale.

Promotion and the successful battle to keep National League One status has left the club with a deficit.

This is in spite of the club keeping to below less than half its limit on spending under the game's salary cap rules.

Chairman Ian Swire said: "We have avoided the mistakes of some clubs in the division by strict financial management but we need to progress.

"The potential is there to regain Super League status and for sport-minded investors to become involved in the decision making."

The directors have authorised the sale of 50,000 shares to increase the share capital to 200,000. Shares will be offered in batches of 5,000 or 10,000, 1 shares.

Swire added: "The club has made great strides since the dark days of late 1999. We have established ourselves as one of the elite semi-professional clubs and could still make the end-of-season play-offs," said Swire.

"We have expanded our youth development and have three full-time development officers in South Yorkshire schools."
