Barnsley boss Gerhard Struber is confident Cauley Woodrow and Alex Mowatt will still be at Barnsley at the end of the January transfer window.

Woodrow, who is currently two weeks away from fitness due to a hamstring injury, has been linked with a move to Leeds United.

Mowatt is reportedly a target for Nottingham Forest.

Both men will be key players in the Reds' fight against the drop and Struber expects to keep them.

He said: "Cauley is injured and I expect him to be back in two weeks and it is very important that by the end of January, he can play.

"I am confident that Cauley and Alex will remain at Barnsley."

The Reds have made their second signing of the window, with Kilian Ludewig joining from Red Bull Salzburg on loan until the end of the season.

Midfielder Marcel Ritzmaier, who followed Struber from Wolfsberger, was first through the door and he has been joined by Ludewig – a 19-year-old defender.

Struber says that will not be the end of their business this month as he targets an experienced centre-half.

"It is not the end for new players and this is the beginning and we hope that will can find one or other new players in the next week,” he added.

"What we need is quality.

“For me, it is not so important that they have experience in the Championship.

“The most important thing for me is that the player has the right quality for our team.

"The player must have the right attitude and character and big mentality to fight to stay in the league and that they have the skills for my game idea."

Barnsley host Huddersfield Town on Saturday.
